The Serengeti National Park

Mt Kilimanjaro
It measures to 5,890m (19,344ft) being the highest mountain in Africa’s.
During the rainy season, conditions on the mountains make it become very slippery and most often snow becomes a problem along some of the routes to the summit.
Saadani National Park
This is located in the south on the country close to the Indian Ocean. This is one of the newer national parks. It is the only park in East Africa that allows you to go on a game drive in the morning or late afternoon and then head out to the beaches for a dip in the Indian Ocean. You can also experienced the very rare Sea Turtle at this park. This park was previously a game reserve and only gained its National Park status in the year 2005. Altogether Saadani National Park covers a large area of over 1062 square kilometers.
Mikumi National Park
This one is located on the highway that stretched from the capital of Tanzania Dar Es Salam all the way to Zambia. This highway is called the TanZam Highway and cuts right through the park. The name comes from a local tree they call Mikoche, this tree can be found providing lots of shade throughout the whole park. You can expect to see herds of elephants and lion prides. There are also flood plains you can view as well as the infamous savannah grasslands, which are probably the main feature next to the Mikoche trees.
Udzungwa National Park
This National Park is located in the Udzungwa Mountains which is about 70 kilometers from Mikumi National Park. The mountain ranges are heavily forested with a different kind of trees, that can only be seen in this area of the country. This park has been given the name ‘Traditional Medicine Laboratory’ because it has so many different unique species of trees and plants.
Sanje Falls
The Sanje river at one point drops almost 200m to create the spectacular Sanje Falls. You can walk up to the top in about two hours, from where you can catch a view of the Kilombero floodplain and the Selous. Accomodation is available in the local area, so you can use that as base camp as you explore this unique national park. The Sanje river is needed by the farmers downstream for irrigation purposes for their fields.
Ruaha National Park
One of the largest rivers in Tanzania the Ruaha inspired the name for this park. The funny thing is during the dry season, this large river can disappear to just a small trickle. The plants, the animals as well as the fish all rely heavily on the Ruaha river. What is unique about this park is that it is the meeting ground for animals from the Northern and those from the Southern part of Africa. If you want to see many different types of animals in one place. There are Kudos, warthogs, jackals and growing numbers of elephants too.
Selous Safari
Of course the southern part has its own safaris to offer as well. There you have the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park. Selous and Ruaha are not as known or as visited as the parks in the northern part of Tanzania like the Serengeti. These parks are remote and you can only get to them by air. The Selous which is Africa’s largest Game Reserve is all about making you go on walking safaris, boat safaris and as well as game driving, and Ruaha offers you all round game viewing.
You also have the west part of Tanzania. This part is a great distance from anywhere and all the other tourist areas. The Mahale Safari will offer you unique scenery and some of the best chimpanzee tracking safaris. Then you also have the Katavi safari which is home to large numbers of large mammals which is only second to the Serengeti.
